Auto Biography
My name is Clément Dubosq
It was in 2017, at the age of 16, that I started the French ring, shortly after launching my own business in the field of dog training following my meeting with André Lemonnier who introduced me to biting work and the job of assistant man. I trained with his dog, "Denky du banc des hermelles", an exceptional athlete who participated in the selections for the French championships of 2014, 2015 and 2016, and who even reached the final in 2015. Thanks to my rapid progress during training, he entrusted me with the training of his dogs for competitions. I thus worked with "Largo du banc des hermelles" and "Jumper du banc des hermelles", the latter having notably participated in the selections for the French championship of 2019-2020.
After ten months spent in the costume training dogs, this diligent training as an assistant man, made me decide to take the selection tests to obtain level 1 and thus be able to participate in competitions in the biting costume. These rigorous tests included a written exam on knowledge of the rules, a sporting test assessing physical abilities, and a biting test. I had the satisfaction of finishing first in this selection, with an average of 16.44/20. With this result, I decided to prepare my dog Ollie, born on July 15, 2018 in a renowned breeding that has produced many exceptional dogs, for competitions as a handler.
On January 11, 2020, I participated in my first competition (as a "white" competitor). This day was marked by my meeting with Stéphane Brière and his son, Quentin. They offered me to participate in a training session with them, which I of course accepted with enthusiasm. Stéphane Brière is a double French ring champion (2008 and 2013), crowned with his dogs UDEX and FEDZARRO. He has also trained many dogs that brilliantly reached the final of the French championship. Following this very enriching first training session, they offered me to join them to form a new team. I thus began to train every week with them, allowing me to deepen my knowledge in biting work and dog training techniques. This collaboration proved extremely fruitful, since we led his dog to victory in the 2020 regional championship, where he won first place.
Following my remarkable performances in the biting costume, I was asked to participate in several competitions as a decoy. I started this new stage with the competition in Montfort-sur-Meu, a town located near my home. This experience allowed me to further develop my network in the French ring world. I then had the opportunity to participate in competitions in different regions and cities in France, such as Lennon, La Haye-Pesnel, Argenteuil and Château-Gontier.
In France, I met Spencer Bowman, a training and competition attack man in the French ring and mondioring, who had worked with Stéphane Brière. He entrusted me with training his dog for the 2020 selectives.
Subsequently, Spencer offered me to spend three months in the United States to prepare his dog, "Lycan", for the upcoming competitions. This training proved particularly fruitful, since Lycan was crowned US champion in 2022 and 2023.
At the same time, I spent 2 weeks with Misael Mercado. The latter is a level 3 selected attack man in Mexico, recognized in his country for having participated in competitions in the biting costume, as well as for having trained and brought dogs to compete at a high level.
This experience across the Atlantic allowed me to share, develop new training methods and meet many professionals in the field.
Back in France, I resumed competitions with Ollie, then I decided to breed her. The litter was made with Litz au paradis d'Orsy, a dog that participated in the 2019, 2020 and 2022 selections. I chose to keep one puppy and sell the others to professionals and individuals. Among them, one puppy went to the United States to practice the French ring, and another joined our team, with Stéphane Brière as handler.
My friend Éric Servant, a renowned breeder, offered to accompany me for the litter and I went to his house in the north of France.
He has produced many dogs that have reached the finals of competitions, including his own dog, "Hancock", with whom he participated in the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 selections, reaching the final in 2019. During these few months spent in his breeding, I trained his dogs and those of his team for the French ring competitions. Among them, "Nirvana du domaine de Kertanka" and "Nawak" both participated in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 selections. I thus accompanied him on several competitions.
During our training, I had the opportunity to meet other emblematic figures of the French ring. I worked with Bernard Boutonnet, double French champion (2019 and 2022) and trainer of many dogs who have reached the highest national level, participating in several finals. I also trained Praxus, the dog of Sébastien Corbin, reigning French champion (2024) and double regional champion (2022 and 2023). Finally, I worked with Philippe Desamblanc, finalist several times in the French championship with his dog Ganja, and regular participant in the selectives with his dog Ovni.
With these meetings and my solid experience, I returned to my team and Stéphane Brière to continue training our dogs.
On October 15, 2024, I returned to the United States with Spencer Bowman, where I continued to train his dog, "Sub-Zero", for the national ring championship, which was held in Utah. This work paid off, since "Sub-Zero" won the title of United States Champion in Ring 1.
A few weeks later, we decided to participate in a new competition in California, in Vacaville. I chose to compete with Ollie and Spencer with Sub-Zero. The training sessions proved very satisfying, since our team had the satisfaction of finishing on the first two steps of the podium with a 1st place for Ollie.
I also participated in the training of Trisha Olson, a competitor and dog trainer in mondioring. She brilliantly won first place in the California competition with her dog, "V'Gnarly".
At 23 years old, I have trained a very large number of dogs and I am proud that my work and perseverance have allowed me to have this career.
